i've never taken on a rescue dog but id did used to volunteer walking them..... before we moved here we didnt have enough room for a dog - so on our days off we would go the the local centre and do volunteer dog walking. we walked some really great dogs.... its such a shame how and why some of them end up in centres.

we walked a dalmation called jazz - she had gone into the centre because she was overweight..... she was massive not even reconizable as a dalmation.... how anyone let her get like that i dont know.... within a couple of months at the centre andon a stable diet she lost loads of weight and looked great.

normally we tried to walk collies or gsds as they were the dogs we wanted...... we never came across a 'bad' dog - they were all really loving and ok some had problems but they were really lovely dogs.... id would have taken them all if i could!!!!!!!

thats realy great of you to do that. when i was in high school i volunteered for the RSPCA for about 4 months. i used to clean out the kennels, catteries, adoption centre, feed the animals, play and exercise the dogs! they were all great little sould, bless em. the only reason i stopped doing it was because of school exams, so on my days off i had to study in stead of going to thr RSPCA.

I think I would like to become a puppy walker for the guide dogs , but when I look on there site they don't seem to need Cornwall , which is a real shame

id love to do that but i dont think there is anywhere round here that does it, i think all dogs in kennels should have "happy" contact with people every day but just looking at the number of dogs in rescue centers it must be nearly impossible for all the dogs to get the one on one contact that they need every day.

My nearest kennels are about 15miles from me , but I can't walk the dogs yet as I have my youngest home with me so I will have to wait till he starts preschool and then go down there and make myself known to be available for walkies Smile
