MY RESCUE STORY! Empty MY RESCUE STORY!

Post by Jen Mon May 26, 2008 1:01 am

When i was 7 we lost our yorkshire terrier in a terrible accident. about 5 months later we brought home our little george. he is a border collie cross jack russel, he was about 1 year old at the time. He was beaten by his owner, he was very thin and was afraid of pretty much everything. my dad could not even attach his lead to the collar he wore, as he would cower and wee himself. He was a sorry state back then, but has come on leaps and bounds in the past 15 years. he is still with us to this day and living with my mum. He has arthritis in his knees and its painful for him at times, he is going deaf and blind but he still enjoys the pleasures in life. he doesnt have many teeth now as they are falling out and he had a dental about 3 years ago and came through the anaesthetic really quick. my little sister feeds him up well, she gives him treats and sometimes if my mum is not watching her she will give him the whole packet! he also get chicken and small bits of bacon too, hes getting on now and my mum just want to give hime the last joys of life! bless his little heart! I love you

We were looking for a freind for suki a few months ago and went to see my husbands mum, she kkept complaining the dog at the back of her kept abrking all night and wasnt been taken in at night, she also said she wasnt sure it as being fed properly. so me and my husband decided to go and take a look, to our horror when we looked through the gate there was a large rottweiler chained to a fence with a bowl of food going mouldy just out of reach, the dog was going mad barking at us and a man came out of his house to ask us what we were doing looking into his house, we explained he couldnt leave the dog like that and to our surprise he unclipped to dog and handed me the lead and told me if i didnt like it i could have him, so i did. when we got him home i had to keep him seperate from suki as he was not castrated and suki was on heat, his fur was matted and his teeth and mouth stank, we took him the vet got him done and genrally cleaned him up, he is now the happies dog i have owned gets on fine with suki and his fur is lovely and soft, i couldnt risk letting him near the children at first but now he is very tolerant of my 2 and 5 year old going as far as to let them play with his ears. we have had him for 4 months now and im glad we found him when we did, we reported the man but nothing could be done as we now had the dog.

ive got 5 rescues, two rotties and 3 mognrels. they are all nuts, had a few probs with all of them but thats what you get i suppose, not paying silly prices for a dog when you can get a rescue for peanuts!

depends what kind of circumstances you have though a rescue isnt for everyone, and when you but a pedigree its not just the dog your paying for, you get the pedigree a owners registration if it ever gets stolen and a good indication that the dog will have a good temprement.

Thats great its funny how the older dogs take puppys better than a fully grow dog , I surpose its the thing that they can let the pup know whos top dog
