most rescues do this because realisticly (spelling) you cant watch children 24/7 & if a rescue dog does snap at a child it is always the dogs fault if you know what i mean, unlike you & i they cant say i'm not feeling too good so please leave me alone.

true true, i used to seperate my kids at titch ALL the time though with the use of saftey gates and doors, anyone that has had a dog knows the signs of a stressed dog and what situations to avoid, i would never put my children in danger but i also would not like to see a dog put to sleep because someone else dictates that because i have small children i am unable to take a rescue dog.

i would have a rescue dog again but would have to look into it very seriously because of my five year old. mills does chase george and grab him at times , she drags him out in the garden for walks, he never batters an eyelid with her. even though my husband knows george very well he still thinks that a dog can strike at any time.when we first looked into having a rescue dog we had to fill in forms and we took the dog on the proviso that we did not have any problems were the kids were concerned as my son was only little and at any point we could return him to the rescue centre should they arise.
