Re: WORMERS
from the first week we got vegas, she had been on milbemax, but they only go up to 10kg's, so she was given drontal this time as they go upto a greater weight for dogs.

Re: WORMERS
we just use the ones you can get from pet shops - we used to use johnsons - we found them good - but we now use sherleys worming cream for cats and dogs - it saves worrying about getting mixed up or them spitting them out and being picked up by someone else - as they can both have this one and it comes in a syringe so its really easy to use for the kittens to.....

Re: WORMERS
I always get told that the pet shop wormers dont work!
vegas had the johnsons wormers in the first week we got her, but we then decided to get the wormers from the vets again because we were told that they would be better.
as she is being wormed every 2 weeks, were having to take her to the vets, weigh her and get the wormers at the same time. at least we know how much weight she is gaining which is handy!

Re: WORMERS
vegas has never bothered about having the tablet wormers. We just break them up & put them in with her biscuits. she doesnt even notice them & just woof's them down!

Re: WORMERS
storms a real baby when it comes to tablets - and with the kittens its easier..... we've always used 'pet shop' wormers and never hd a problem - im not saying the vets ones arent better - but some vets 'like to earn money' - and plug there products when in actual fact there not much different. im quite wary of vets - ive been to some really crap ones!!!! - im so fussy i visitd all the ones within a 10 mile radius before decideing which one i would use.

Re: WORMERS
a few weeks ago when we took vegas for her last vaccination, she was due worming at the same time, we were asked if we wanted to use milbemax or panacure sachets. it was going to either be 2 milbemax tablets or 4 sachets for vegas! we opted for the tablets & was fine with them.
we found that the milbemax wormers gave her a bit of diarrhoea the day after giving her them, but she was rewormed yesturday with drontal and has had no diarrhoea with them!

some people will see that as fussy, but when it comes down to it, it is very sensible for owners to do that. before we got vegas we shopped around the vets to find a suitable one! i dont see that being fussy, just being a responsible owner!

Re Wormers
Very good choice, a good vet is hard to find and very important I am very lucky I have a good vet he is very reasonable saying that we have only needed to use him for routine things like vaccinations wormers check ups but he has had a good few £ off us

Re: WORMERS
I know better to be safe than sorry. some people just wouldnt even bother taking their pups/dogs to the vets.
if anything was to happen to vegas, i wouldnt be bothered about the cost, just that she was ok and the vet sorted her out! (touch wood nothing will happen to her tho!)

Re: WORMERS
Vegas is very good when giving her her worming tablets, as long as you have a few bisuit in your hand with the tablet shes fine, she just gobbles it down like its a biscuit!
Even when she wa little she would do the same just gobble it down, she just doesnt seem to be bothered by them. Shes a good girl!
