Barf for a start, although I have seen some nice shiny coats on other foods.
What I would say is that the goodness must come from within to achieve a good coat, and I do find if mine are poorly in any way then their coat tends to suffer.
I also use oily fish once a week, but I also supplement with seaweed powder (kelp) sometimes, and give veg which I think helps.

When any animal gets ill their coat suffers and is one of the most noticeable things that will indicate an illness along with other things.
To help promote a good healthy, glossy & shiny coat you can give natural food stuffs such as the barf diet, fish, oil suppliments (cod liver oil, glucosamine, vegetable oil) in reasonable amounts. The diet is the most important thing in any animals life to help promote a healthy coat. If the coat is dull, greasy & have dandruff then it is most likely the diet which is causing this, as could be unbalanced and lacking the right amount of food stuffs to keep your dogs healthy.
To keep your dogs coat healthy you must bath your dog but not too often as you will wash out all the natural oils on the skin & coat & also brush your dogs hair regularly for both long haired and short haired dogs as the body gets rid of toxins in the body when they shed their hair.
