Re: RAW DIET
We feed our dogs on the BARF diet (Bones And Raw Foods) and are having great results, healthy dogs with healthy skin and coats and good drive,
They have everything raw from chickens to fruit the only cooked food they have is wholemeal liver cake home made for bait at shows
(much easier to store than chicken wings)
And after reading on the web about "The dogfood conspiracy" im glad i do

do you find the raw food is better for your rottweilers than normal dry biscuit/meat diets?
vegas has a sensitive stomach & most things she eats that are new just go right through her, sometimes undigested and other things shes fine with.

Barf Diet
Hi,
I would suggest you do a bit of reserch 1st, a good book is "Give Your Dog A Bone"
by Dr Ian Billinghurst
A dogs digestive system is built for raw food the same as wild dogs, wolves and such
they dont cook their food and add all these preservetives and you can bet they are healthier
but i would say yes it would be great for your dog to gradually try it on the BARF diet
But I would look into it 1st so you know what your doing

Re: RAW DIETS
shes ok on the burns diet at the moment and she seems to be keeping her weight on and gaining weight as normal i think.
i think when she is older i might transfer her to a raw diet if she will benefit from it better than the burns.
i dogs in the wild eat raw meat and i know the pups will lick and nibble it at it too when they are getting older, but i have another question for you: is it ok to feed raw diets to pregnant and lactating bitches?
the reason i am asking is because i would love to have a litter from vegas when shes older and if i am to change her diet then i want to make sure her pups will be ok. im planning early. or will i have to change it back for the pregnancy & lactating periods?

BARF Diet
I think the BARF diet is excellent. I used to have a Rottie cross many moons a go, which I fed raw tripe, but at the time never knew the importance of the food. A year a go I had a great little Staffie, named Memphis (Gone to a very good home). When I first met Maria his coat was dull and flaky, and it was Maria who told me about the BARF diet, and the importance of it. I changed his diet, and roughly after two months, his coat shone, and no more flaky skin, he was in tip top condition. I would always recommend this particular diet, as it’s so much better than what you get on the commercial market, and at least you know what you're actually feeding your dog .

Re: RAW DIETS
I feed both our dogs on the barf diet, chicken wings and red meat. They do like the odd carrot if i drop one, i wasnt sure when we got suki with her being so small but the breeder reasurred me that all her pups are given chicken wings and she has never had a problem. hope this helps

Re: RAW DIETS
feeding raw meat to dogs makes them turn savage dont it? i would never do anything so barbaric, mine get wagg biscuits with pedigree chum wet food, they love it and we have empty bowls everytime.

Re: RAW DIETS
Every dog is intilled to some raw food now and then , its part of their diet pepsi gets the raw tip bits only when I prepare meat its better than throwing it , Pepsi is fed on beta and twice aweek gets winalot and biscuit and I also miss a meal every 2 weeks to help her with her digestive system , and a vet would recormend it as in the wild dogs would not feed every day
