Re: RAW DIETS
I think the BARF diet is great as long as you know what you are doing ie you need to make sure that the dogs are getting the correct goodness out of it - if they were in the wild and ate a rabbit they would eat the eyes, insides etc and not just the meat.
Mine get Royal Canin Rottweiler because it is a fantastic food and is designed spec for Rotties and has got 1200g/kg of Gluc & Cond to help with larger dogs, they look amazing on it.
If I had more time then they would get a BARF diet but to feed BARF you need to be dedicated.
Although mine do get raw bones from the butchers, lamb hearts, kidneys and all natural treats ie hooves, ears, willies etc and they love the trimmings from my horses feet after the farrier has been.

dogs have a different digestive system to us and dont get salmonella realy in the same way as we do, if you know what i mean! dogs can tollerate raw meat and have done for centuries as they are carnivores!

Agh Ben bless ya mate. That is so far off the truth.
BARF is far far healthier for your dogs - take a look into it - it's not as difficult or as expensive as some think.
Sorry --- but Pedigree & Wagg are two of the worst foods on the market. If the Wagg is a complete then you shouldn't give the two different types anyway. Should be one thing or another.

Re: RAW DIETS
I feed Barf to mine. Its the healthiest option for them. I wouldnt feed any of that complete rubbish or tinned stuff. Do you know what goes into tinned foods?????? And how complete foods are made and where the ingredients come from??????? This is my 'pet' thing, good health comes from good nutrition FULL STOP!!!!!!!!!!!
And when we have a litter, the pups are weaned straight onto raw meat and veggies and chicken wings etc from approx 4 weeks old. I have piccies of pups tucking into chicken wings perfectly fine.

Re: RAW DIETS
And as for the view that feeding raw meat makes a dog vicious is beyond stupidity!!!!! My dogs are in no way vicious and all of them were reared on Raw. Vicious dogs come from inexperienced and novice owners, not from raw meat!!

Re: RAW DIETS
I've so enjoyed reading this BLOG. I've had loads of problems with my rotties skin. He's suffered from hot spots and scurfy skin and all year round moulting. I've tried eveything from Bakers to Science Plan to James Wellbeloved. I now feed the BARF diet and haven't looked back. i know it takes a bit more thought and effort, but with a blender and a freezer, you can do all the prep work in an hour, once a week and freeze portions. I now know exactly what my boy eats and he looks great on it!

Re: RAW DIETS
Is Titch a Fantasia rottie? Just wondered if the problem is in the bloodline? I went onto James Wellbeloved as its a non allergen food. I have to say that his coat did improve by about 60%, but it seems to be improving daily with the BARF diet. If you haven't found it already, take a look a this site: http://www.landywoods.co.uk/ It supplies BARF food loads cheaper than other pet stores, but you have to order over a certain amount to get the delivery free. I get my meaty bones from 2 local butchers and my veggies from my local market or Lidl.

Re: RAW DIETS
Liz Dunhill has confirmed that she feeds all of her dogs on a raw diet and states that complete food, especially Bakers is not a good diet for rotties. So, you've heard from an expert (Jacob's Daddy was best of breed at Crufts a few years ago)
